2009 Report Card Launch

The 2009 Ecosystem Health Report Card results will be launched on Wednesday 21 October at 11.30am - 12.30pm.

The Ecosystem Health Report Card provides 'A to F' health ratings for the waterways of South East Queensland and is released annually by the SEQ Healthy Waterways Partnership.  It is the culmination of twelve months of scientific monitoring at 391 freshwater, estuarine and marine sites throughout the region. The ratings form a succinct 'snapshot' of the ecosystem health of our waterways and help to identify issues affecting waterways and actions required to improve their health.

The Report Card will be released at four launch events across South East Queensland:

Central - Riverlife Centre (former Naval Stores at the base of Kangaroo Point Cliffs, Brisbane)
Southern - Interpretation Centre at Berrinba Wetlands (Wayne Goss Drive, Browns Plains)
Western - Queens Park Environmental Education Centre (Merle Finimore Ave, Ipswich)
Northern - Fraser Park on the Esplanade (Golden Beach, on the Pumicestone Passage)

Also at this event we will be launching health-e-waterways, the next generation of leading edge technology to analyse, interpret and communicate waterways information. The system has integrated the various water information databases held by a variety of government agencies and research organisations. This will allow science, policy-makers, management and the general public the ability to search and query water information through an online interface. By providing streamlined access to robust data, health-e-waterways will enable more effective water resource management.
