Developing the Strategy

The South East Queensland Healthy Waterways Strategy 2007-2012 (the Strategy) was prepared by the Partners of the South East Queensland Healthy Waterways Partnership.
Developing the Strategy involved extensive consultation, research and analysis over a period of two years.
Steps in developing the Strategy:
Building on previous work
Assessing the previous Strategy actions and achievements, and which remaining actions were still relevant and achievable.
Testing strategies
Confirming Environmental Values and Water Quality Objectives for South East Queensland's waterways. Modelling the impacts of management actions to determine the likely achievement of Water Quality Objectives.
Consulting
Consulting with Partners and stakeholders to obtain their commitment. Aligning with other policies and plans
Identifying links to other plans including the South East Queensland Regional Plan, South East Queensland Natural Resource Management Plan and the Australian Government’s National Water Quality Management Strategy.
