The South East Queensland Healthy Waterways Strategy 2007-2012 (the Strategy) was prepared by the Partners of the South East Queensland Healthy Waterways Partnership.

Developing the Strategy involved extensive consultation, research and analysis over a period of two years.

Steps in developing the Strategy:

  • Building on previous work

  • Assessing the previous Strategy actions and achievements, and which remaining actions were still relevant and achievable.

  • Testing strategies

  • Confirming Environmental Values and Water Quality Objectives for South East Queensland's waterways. Modelling the impacts of management actions to determine the likely achievement of Water Quality Objectives.
  • Consulting

  • Consulting with Partners and stakeholders to obtain their commitment.
  • Aligning with other policies and plans

  • Identifying links to other plans including the South East Queensland Regional Plan, South East Queensland Natural Resource Management Plan and the Australian Government’s National Water Quality Management Strategy.
