The development of the South East Queensland Healthy Waterways Strategy 2007-2012 (the Strategy) attempted to take all relevant plans and strategies into account.

In particular, the Strategy has been closely aligned with the South East Queensland Regional Water Strategy because of the close connection between water quality and water supply.

Relevant plans at the State level include:

• Queensland Water Recycling Strategy (2001)

• Regional Nature Conservation Strategy for South East Queensland 2003-2008
• The SEQ Regional NRM Plan and Investment Strategy (2004)

Two additional plans are being prepared that will support the Strategy:

• Draft SEQ Regional Plan 2009-2031
• Draft SEQ Natural Resource Management Plan 2009-2031

At the local government level, each of the 10 local governments in South East Queensland continue to prepare and amend their plans to manage growth and development, and the majority have developed catchment management plans.
