WSUD Action Plan
The Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) Action Plan is a key component of  the SEQ Healthy Waterways Strategy 2007 - 2012.

The purpose of the Strategy is to deliver a range of outcomes essential to maintaining and improving the health of SEQ’s waterways, including Moreton Bay. It contains over 500 actions that the SEQ Healthy Waterways Partners have committed, either individually or in cooperation, to deliver.

The purpose of the WSUD Action Plan is to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of waterways in SEQ by minimising the impact that urban land use has on the water cycle. It identifies the need for WSUD and the barriers to its widespread implementation in SEQ.

The WSUD Action Plan includes a series of actions that seek to overcome the barriers in order to achieve the following target:

By 2026, all developed urban land in SEQ will meet consistent regional standards for Water Sensitive Urban Design.

The actions address the following key areas:

Legislation, policy and planning;

existing urban catchments;

best practice WSUD;

awareness and capacity building; and

erosion and sediment control.
Various partners, mainly local councils and the Queensland Government, have committed to the actions within the WSUD Action Plan.

The WSUD Action Plan was developed with input from numerous partners. In particular, a SEQ Regional WSUD Working Group was established to represent the views and needs of stakeholder organisations and agencies during development of the strategy. A list of organisations represented on the SEQ Regional WSUD Working Group is contained in the WSUD Action Plan.
