The Science and Research Program provides independent scientific advice to the Partners. It also ensures that rigorous and independent science underpins the Partnership’s work and that stakeholders have access to sound and relevant scientific information and decision support tools.
In 2006-2007, the Program focused on the provision of the science and scenario modelling for the finalisation of the SEQ Healthy Waterways Strategy 2007-2012 (the Strategy). This included the definition, development and application of ‘sustainable loads’ as an important concept underpinning the Strategy.
In addition, management scenarios were analysed and interpreted to assist in the identification of the key areas of action needed to achieve the Strategy’s 2026 vision, while taking into consideration the pressures of future population increases.

The Parnership framework is an innovative and thorough approach to water quality management. Scientific research, community participation and development of management actions are done collaboratively. The Partnership believes that improved understanding and availability of decision support tools for the management of land and water result in better achievement of projects which can help to realise the Healthy Waterways vision.
